2018 40 Under 40: Jennifer Soup

Jennifer Soup

Jennifer Soup, 33, works in Washington, D.C., as director of meetings and marketing at the Association for Accessible Medicines. As a 2018 40 Under 40 honoree, Soup discusses her passion for the events industry.

What I do: I direct and oversee the planning of meetings and special events for the Association for Accessible Medicines (formerly GPHA). My role includes coordinating all amenities, accommodations and related departments including site selection, staff, food, hotel and production.

How I got here: I began my career in the events industry as an events and marketing coordinator for the Northwest Arkansas Wedding Gallery. In that role, I assisted in coordinating weddings, private parties and bridal shows. I also received training from Preston Bailey, who was recently named one of the best wedding designers in the world by Vogue.

Impressive stats: AAM registration, business exposition and sponsorship have increased by more than 50 percent since my tenure at the association.

Specific improvement I’ve made: I created an industry-unique event app that includes everything from scheduling to sponsor lead generation to inspirational stories from attendees’ experiences. Within 48 hours of the app launch, we had more than 2,600 downloads.

What I’m working on: AAM has combined some of our top conferences—FallTech, Leading on Biosimilars and CMC Workshop—into the single-best opportunity to hear directly from government officials, learn best practices, and connect with peers in the generics and biosimilars industry. We are excited to host our first-ever GRx+Biosims 2018 conference in Baltimore Sept. 5-7.

What I do outside of work: My husband and I enjoy traveling and exploring the world 48 hours at a time. We also volunteer and help out as much as possible with Feed it Forward DC. DuPage CVB
