What I do: I ensure that our attendees enjoy a seamless event experience from start to finish. I manage registration, logistics, published materials and event websites. My technical expertise gives our meetings website an online concierge experience where attendees can determine which sessions they wish to attend, plan meals, and set aside time to meet with vendors.
How I got here: I started by volunteering with ASCA during a time of transition. Later, I was hired to fulfill the duties of a membership staff member on maternity leave. From there ASCA decided I would make a great fit for the meetings department. I have served our attendees and vendors in this capacity since working my first event in 2011.
Greatest career accomplishment: When I started with ASCA, our badges were printed in the office and shipped in containers on-site for each meeting. I played a crucial role in the process of building our new learning management system that allows us to print badges on-site and track our meetings metrics within the database. This transition saved thousands of dollars from hiring temporary staff to help print and prepare badges for shipment to requiring more on-site staff to manage the registration process.
Impressive stats: I’ve been responsible for transitioning the registration process from a paper-based process relying on mail and faxes to a process that is 95% online. This has cut down errors, increased PCI compliance, and ensured more registrants get instant confirmation of their purchase. I have saved more than $10,000 by eliminating printed syllabi and offering the same content digitally.
Specific improvement I’ve made: I created an interactive schedule on the meetings website with a search feature that works on smartphones allowing attendees to have the capability to plan their day at each event without having to go far.
What I do outside of work: I spend a lot of time in the spring and summer volunteering for organizations. When I am not volunteering locally, I am traveling and experiencing what the world has to offer.
