What I do:
Through NGA, governors identify priority issues and handle matters of public policy and governance at the state, national and global levels. One way NGA accomplishes that goal is by bringing governor’s policy advisors from around the country and the territories together to learn from experts and build peer networks. I assist those efforts by planning the logistics for high-level convenings where the policy issues at hand can be discussed and where state teams can depart feeling like they have action items and plans to implement positive change within their respective states.
I am responsible for the planning and execution of approximately 20 events annually. As an organization, we plan between 80 and 100 events per year, so I stay very busy.
Specific improvement I’ve made:
I created a database to assist the other planners within my department. The database is divided by city and includes basic information such as number of sleeping rooms, meeting space square footage, etc. It also includes information like sales person contact information, notes on the walkability of the surrounding area, a list of special amenities that the property offers, and a brief description of the property’s history that might be worth sharing with our internal clients just to name some of the touched upon points with in the database.
What I do outside of work:
I love to travel! I am currently planning my first trip to Europe, and I can’t wait to get there! My husband and I also recently discovered indoor rock climbing—we are hooked.
