A Letter of Solidarity From Connect

Connect vows to improve our industry, company and communities through these steps.

Connect Meetings

Connect has spent the last several weeks listening to our employees, colleagues and those around the industry. Our eyes have been opened to the depth of systemic racism in this country and we want to be a part of the solution. 

We have been talking internally and working toward real, actionable steps that we can take as a company (and as individuals) to help further the cause of equality for the black community. We are working in the following ways:

  1. For our nation: Partnering with the NAACP to support advocacy on a nationwide scale with funds.
  2. For our company: 
         a. We are holding companywide sessions with Tianna Tye, an organizational psychologist who specializes in unconscious bias.
         b. Supporting the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to:
                   o Help several students graduate debt-free.
                   o Incorporate interns and new hires from HBCUs.
  3.  For our community:
           a. Near-Term: We have asked all staff members to take time on Friday, June 19, 2020, to get involved in making their community better. 
           b. Long-Term: We will reinstitute community engagement through programs in which we directly help others in need. 

We want to look back on this time of our lives and know we helped make a difference. Please read this open letter to our colleagues and the world from Black Destination Industry Leaders. It is indeed a moment for change in this country and we stand with the black community to say enough is enough. It is time for more than talk—we want to be action-oriented. Join us as we strive to improve our industry, our company our communities and ourselves.
