You won’t find a check-in desk when you walk into Moxy New Orleans Downtown/French Quarter Area. Opening this month, the 108-room hotel has an interactive lobby doubling as a 24-hour bar where you’ll receive your room key alongside a complimentary sample of the signature Got Moxy cocktail. Fitness classes, acupuncture and dating experts are weekly entertainment in the mixed first-level space, which also has games like Cards Against Humanity, foosball and giant Jenga available for daytime play. Designed for the millennial-minded traveler, Moxy New Orleans (as well as other Moxy locations) holds claim to the fastest Wi-Fi in the hospitality industry. “We say millennial-minded because age is just a number,” says Vicki Poulos, global brand director for the hospitality brand. “We have guests from all different age groups, but the common thread is they all appreciate a good time.” Hotel guests, aka “fun hunters” as Moxy likes to call them, can fall asleep to bedtime stories programmed into rotary-dial phones (hello, ’70s!), prop their heads on pillows screen-printed with meme-worthy quips reading “I woke up like this” or “Treat yo’ self,” and snap selfies in photo boothlike elevators readied with props. “We couldn’t have asked for a better city and a more vibrant culture for one of the first Moxy locations in the United States,” says Poulos. Located in New Orleans’ French Quarter, the hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, jazz performances and Bourbon Street bars. While the hotel itself doesn’t have any meeting space, the Moxy is less than 2 miles from the 1.1 million-sq.-ft. New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, making it a room block must-have.
