Bethany Galbreath, 35, works in Dayton, Ohio, as senior event manager at One10. As a 2019 40 Under 40 honoree, Galbreath discusses her passion for the events industry.
What I do: I am responsible for planning and executing meetings and incentives for a variety of clients across the automotive, pharmaceutical, electronics and insurance industries. I am responsible for a broad scope of event planning components, including site inspections, client meetings, operational logistics and managing client budgets for complex programs ranging from 15 to 1,000 participants.
Greatest career accomplishment: I would say that my greatest career accomplishment has been the development and retention of the client portfolio I work with. I believe it is due to the great teamwork and relationships we have with our Fortune 500 clients that they have continued to choose One10 as their incentive and meetings partner and have requested to work with me year after year.
Impressive stats: I have had the opportunity to travel to five different continents with various clients and have experienced more than 50 different countries in my tenure.
Specific improvement I’ve made: I suggested and helped implement our organization’s meeting program “buddy system.” We paired the new planner joining the team with a planner who had previous experience with that client to help bridge the gap. An additional benefit of this system was that it helped the event managers to build a teamwork atmosphere where they all work together and are comfortable asking for help from their coworkers.
What I am working on: I will be traveling to four new destinations over the course of this year, hopefully including my sixth continent!
What I do outside of work: I am actively involved in my church and am a member of the Women’s Ministries Committee Board, assisting in the planning of all of our outreach events. I also sit on the board of Obed’s House Ministries located in General Santos City, Philippines. Obed’s House is a 24/7 Residential Care Facility accepting children ages 5 through 12 that are orphaned, coming off the street, or from neglected homes. Obed’s House offers each resident the opportunity to receive an education free of charge. I also love to spend time with my seven nieces and nephews, and family and friends.
