A recent survey
of almost 1,200 meeting planners revealed that most will plan the same number of events in 2013 as they did in 2012. E-proDirect, a company that provides email marketing solutions for meetings and conventions, says 27 percent of planners will have an increase in events. The survey also found that 70 percent of respondents still prefer to contact hotels directly when submitting RFPs, as opposed to using online event management software. When it comes to concessions, 81 percent of planners say they would give more consideration to hotels that offered free Wi-Fi in guest rooms, public spaces and meeting areas, while 82 percent want complimentary meeting room rental and 74 percent seek a discount on food and beverage.
