Wine-loving groups now have more to enjoy in California’s Napa Valley. The 150-year-old Hall Wines in St. Helena, California, began offering new private wine experiences for groups in May 2014. Any of the winery’s indoor and outdoor event venues accommodate groups of 16 to 400 for wine tasting flights, educational tastings, sunset walking vineyard tours, wine and food pairing classes, cooking demonstrations, and Cabernet-focused tastings and education sessions. A number of spaces host private dinners as well. The winery also has more than 40 pieces of modern art, including Patrick Dougherty’s stick-art hut installation. Tours of the art can be arranged. The property features floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, featuring views of the vineyards and neighboring mountains. Hall Wines is LEED Gold-certified, the first vineyard in the state to earn the certification. Hall’s grapes are farmed organically and are irrigated with recycled water, and solar energy provides 35 percent of the winery’s power. A second location of Hall Wines operates out of Rutherford, a 4.4-mile drive from St. Helena. The smaller vineyard was built to produce small-batch red wines. The Rutherford location is available by appointment only and has two private event spaces, one of which is an underground cave with a Swarovski crystal-studded chandelier.
