Hillsong United, the band that consistently leads the charts in contemporary Christian music (they were named 2015's year’s Top Christian Artist at the Billboard Music Awards), is headed to Hollywood this weekend. A new documentary titled “Let Hope Rise,” debuting in theaters Sept. 16 and directed by filmmaker Michael John Warren, follows the band on its worldwide tour, giving viewers an inside glimpse of everything from concert prep to the hardships of missing family while on the road.
This isn’t the first time the Christian band or its music has gone mainstream. Last season on NBC's "The Voice," contestant Deanna Johnson performed the group’s hit song “Oceans.” Even Warren, who is not a Christian, wrote on the film’s website, “Their mission—without exaggeration—is to make music to save souls.”
