Bob Harris says he has passion, integrity and fun. Learn more about him.
How I Got Here: I started out in the hotel industry in Williamsburg, Virginia, and later the Atlanta area, where I eventually worked for the Cobb County CVB and the Gwinnett CVB. In my last seven years in Georgia, I oversaw the state of Georgia’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism. I then spent 11 great years as the senior vice president of sales for Visit Williamsburg before moving to my new home at the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce and CVB.
Impressive Stats: While with the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Tourism, we experienced the largest growth in international visitation in recorded history during my tenure.
Greatest Career Accomplishment: In Atlanta, I had the opportunity to work with a distressed hotel and see that property complete renovations and rise-up to be a successful hotel.
Specific Improvement I've Made: I was responsible for launching the Christmas in Williamsburg campaign that resulted in an additional $480 million in new tourism revenue during that period over eight years.
What I do outside of work: I have a passion for travel and learning about new destinations and understanding that while we may speak different languages and have different cultures, we often share the same desire to enjoy life and leave the world as a better place. My other passion is spending time with my parents and family and realizing how blessed I am to have such a supportive and loving foundation.
