Tuesday Johnson-MacDonald, CMP, CMM, is founder, president and senior event planner for TAP Resources, She is based in Ottawa, Ontario.
What I Do: I lead the strategic development in collaboration with the TAP team. I am also the senior event planner for events/conferences we deliver. It is with great honor that I lead our charity: the Meeting Scout Charity designed to join in the fight against poverty in Indigenous communities.
Greatest Career Accomplishment: Operating a business for 20 years is a huge accomplishment, especially when you consider we jumped in with both feet without any experience in operating a business. We have won four major national event awards from the meeting industry for some of our most treasured events, including being recognized by BizBash as one of the 250 top event professionals in Canada.
Impressive stats: We have delivered two international conferences and events over the last three years where we lead sponsorship drives along with being the executive producer. In both instances, we raised more than $1 million, not including registration fees. As part of delivering events, we are happy to note that our clients all have realized either a significant profit or break-even event based on their original objectives.
Specific Improvement I've Made: When I first entered the events business, I was shocked by how little focus was put on Aboriginal people. As an accredited Indigenous-owned and -operated business we have worked hard and in collaboration with hotels to improve their business relationships within the Indigenous population.
What I Do Outside of Work: I have recently finished a three-year term as the president for the Canadian Society for Entrepreneurial Planners and currently sit on the past presidents council for this association. I have also sat on the board of directors for the MPI Toronto Chapter.
