The Fun Dept. Reveals 3 Keys to Effective Teambuilding

Teambuilding

Nick Gianoulis, founder of The Fun Dept., is on a mission to rewrite the traditional teambuilding model. (Do forced, boring and expensive one-time activities ring a bell?) Successful teambuilding activities are brief, engaging and cost-effective, and rely on these three traits, says Gianoulis. See for yourself.

1. Consistency

Initiate teambuilding activities on a monthly, or even weekly, basis. This gives members of your team something to look forward to regularly, and makes them feel valued.

2. Company Time

Evenings and weekends are sacred. Teambuilding is best received when it doesn’t involve giving up family time. Plan activities during work hours for a minimum of 15 minutes and no more than 90 minutes, says Gianoulis.

3. Compliancy

Activities should be all-inclusive and nonthreatening so everyone on your team can participate. Survey your team individually to learn their interests, and then compile the responses to find an activity everyone will enjoy.
