This Week in Team USA: March 7-13

Each week, Connect Sports is excited to present to you the latest events in the world of Team USA. Here is what to look for during the week of March 7-13. USA Bowling Event: USBC Championships The USBC Open Championships is widely recognized as the world's largest participatory sporting event. The event consists of team, doubles, singles, and an optional all-events competition, and is conducted in an arena or convention center setting in a different city each year. When: March 5-July 11 Where: National Bowling Stadium; Reno, Nev. Participants: 50,000-90,000 Spectators: 100,000+ Up for bid again: 2022 and 2028 More information USA Curling Event: 2016 USA Curling Club National Championships 2016 USA Curling Club National Championships feature 10 men’s and 10 women’s teams that have qualified via a regional championship event. Teams have competed together in league competition all season and will represent their respective clubs in one of USA Curling’s fastest-growing championships. When: March 5-12 Where: Capital Curling Club; Bismarck, N.D. Participants: 80-105 Spectators: 200+ daily; 5,000 viewers online Up for bid again: Year-round process; awarded in late spring More information Event: 2016 USA Curling College National Championship Sixteen of the top college curling teams have battled through seasonlong competitions to earn berths in the 2016 USA Curling College National Championship. When: March 11-13 Where: Chaska Curling Center; Chaska, Minn. Participants: 64-80 Spectators: N/A Up for bid again: Year-round process; awarded in late spring More information U.S. Soccer Event: SheBelieves Cup, U.S. vs. Germany The match is part of an elite tournament hosted by U.S. Soccer known as the SheBelieves Cup. Four of the top five ranked women's national teams are participating including England, France, Germany and the USA. When: March 9 Where: Florida Atlantic University Stadium; Boca Raton, Fla. Participants: 40+ Spectators: Stadium capacity is 30,000 Up for bid again: N/A More information USA Water Polo Event: ODP National Championships The event will be comprised of 16 teams per gender in three different age groups: 18U, 16U and 14U. Each team roster will consist of 14 athletes plus coaches. The 16 teams will come from USA Water Polo’s 13 zones. If an athlete has any aspirations to be a member of USA Water Polo’s National Team, he or she must participate at the ODP National Championship.
