Ahead of Sport Climbing's Olympic debut, USA Climbing has issued RFPs for three events in 2021.

Up for Bid: 2021 USA Climbing Events

USA Climbing is currently seeking proposals to host three premier events in 2021: the National Team Trials, Youth National Championships, and National Championships.Here are the details:

Deadline to Bid: July 31, 2020

Dates: 

National Team Trials (new event): Early March 2021 

Youth National Climbing Championships: Early July 2021

National Climbing Championships: Early November 2021

Venue Requirements: 

For Team Trials, commercial climbing gyms with walls to accommodate 10 boulder problems; 10 routes for the lead discipline and a 15-meter official IFSC Speed Wall.

For the Youth and Nationals Championships events, USA Climbing will provide the climbing walls and need convention centers, sports arenas or outdoor spaces that meet the following requirements:

  • Bouldering: approximately 22-ft clear height with 50,000 square feet of floor space
  • Lead: approximately 60-ft clear height with 30,000 square feet of floor space
  • Speed: approximately 60-ft clear height with 20,000 square feet of floor space

Number of athletes: 100+ (team trials and nationals); 400 (youth)

Number of Spectators: 500 (team trials); 2,500-5,000 (youth and nationals)

Hotel Requirements: Close proximity to the competition arena
