We asked Mike Libber, president and owner of Elite Tournaments, to give us his favorite soccer venues for tournaments. As an added bonus, he also included five underrated venues. Agree? Disagree? Let us know (so we can tell Mike what he got wrong).
5 Best Soccer Complexes
1: ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Kissimmee, Florida
"This complex has everything you need to host a spectacular event. Perfect fields; lights; seating for spectators, teams and college coaches; concessions; parking and restrooms. You can play year-round and are 10 minutes from the Magic Kingdom. What kid would not want to play here?
2: Overland Park Soccer Complex, Overland Park, Kansas
"This is one of the best all-around soccer facilities I have been to. The twelve turf fields are perfectly placed in groups of four, and there's plenty of parking for large events, and it's very easy to get in and out of and to navigate around the complex from field to field. It's also right smack in the middle of the country with plenty of hotels in the area. You know when you go to an event at Overland Park, you will have a good experience."
3: Premier Sports Campus, Lakewood Ranch, Florida
"It has 22 Bermuda fields, plus room to add more if needed and it's 15 minutes from one of the best beaches in the U.S. Being able to have that many fields at one location can keep the entire tournament in one place. Eight fields have lights for profile games in the evening. It's a great location to host an event."
4: Reach 11 Sports Complex; Phoenix, Arizona
"18 fields right in the desert that bolster some top-notch soccer tournaments during the year. Reach has plenty of parking, concessions, and has a close proximity to the airport. Overall it's just a top facility."
5: Bryan Park Soccer Complex, Greensboro, North Carolina
"This complex has 17 immaculate Bermuda grass fields, one of which can host 3,000 spectators with seating. The complex has been in the soccer community for years and has hosted several major championships since its inception."
5 Most Underrated Complexes
1: Burbank Soccer Complex, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
"Tucked away just outside of downtown Baton Rouge, this facility has 22 Bermuda fields that can be reconfigured into small sided fields if necessary. Parking is never an issue; just bring some sun tan location as it can get pretty warm during the summer months."
2: Elizabethtown Sports Complex, Elizabethtown, Kentucky
"This state-of-the-art facility has 10 natural grass fields and two turf fields. Plenty of parking, great concessions and southern hospitality make this a must-visit in the soccer world."
3: Bob Lucido Fields at Covenant Park, Columbia, Maryland
"Right in the middle of Washington and Baltimore, the soccer-only facility has four turf fields and four grass fields. One of the few facilities in the country that are privately owned by a soccer club and has hosted just about every travel team on the East Coast at least one time for an event."
4: Classics Soccer Park, Manheim, Pennsylvania
Located just outside Lancaster, Pa., this complex has 10 natural grass fields and just down the road a single turf field. Used only for league games and tournaments during the year, this facility is able to host some of the most competitive showcases in the Mid Atlantic area."
5: BB&T Park, Advance, North Carolina
"This 15-field park, located outside of Winston-Salem, N.C., gives each of its visitors a great soccer experience on and off the field. Friendly staff will be able to help you with any question you have while you are watching a game in their 1,400-seat stadium. The facility also has a 3.1 mile jogging path if you want to get a work out while your kids are playing."
