AAU Announces New President at National Convention

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) held its annual convention in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, last week where it elected Dr. Roger Goudy as the new president. This year's convention saw the first full election take place in more than 20 years. Dr. Goudy, who previously served as the AAU National Volleyball Chairman, defeated incumbent President Henry Forrest. Dr. Goudy, who also acts as the superintendent of the Madison County School District in Madison, Ohio, has been involved with the AAU for more than 35 years. "I've always been part of the AAU," said Goudy. "My entire family has been involved for the past several years, as athlete members, volunteers and beyond and I believe we will always continue to be part of it. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to work with the AAU’s wonderful staff and hundreds and thousands of volunteers across the country." One of the many challenges Dr. Goudy must navigate is repairing the AAU's relationships with Disney, the United States Olympic Committee, the National High School Sports Federation and the NCAA, according to AAU's own website.
