Mexico to Play Nigeria In Atlanta

The Mexican National Soccer Team will play Nigeria in Atlanta March 5 at 8:30 in the Georgia Dome in a friendly match in preparation for the World Cup. Mexico qualified for the World Cup in November after defeating New Zealand in a playoff, and the Nigeria match will be one of at least three friendly matches in the lead-up to this summer's World Cup in Brazil. Natural grass will be brought in to the Dome, as it has previously been done when international soccer matches come to Atlanta. Mexico previously played in Atlanta back in 2013 during the Gold Cup, where it defeated Trinidad and Tobago 1-0. Each of the 32 nations that qualified for the World Cup will begin playing friendlies in order to fine tune the rosters. The U.S. Men's National Team has one game currently scheduled (Feb. 1 versus Korea Republic) but will undoubtedly schedule at least one more game before they kick off against Ghana in June.   (photo via
