"As a guy who played able-bodied softball in Mississippi, to find the sport again five years ago, and then host the largest tournament in the world last year… I get emotional. The tournament’s host city must have an airport, transit, shopping, activities and great lodging. Knowing all this when I put the bid in to host two years ago, there was no other host location in my mind. I was dead set on hosting on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! Last year, small groups of Gulf Coasters came together and embraced us. Last year’s tournament was called by all ‘the best tournament in the history of the World Series.’ This year we want to make it bigger.” –Chris Etheridge, World Series of Wheelchair Softball (2015 and 2016)
